MEMORIES OF AFGHANISTAN

At the L.N. Tolstoy Kostanay Regional Universal Scientific Library, a meeting with Afghan war veterans was held to mark the 35th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.

It was organized by the Military Department of KRU named after A. Baitursynuly as part of its work on military-patriotic education of youth. Veterans of combat operations, internationalist warriors Viktor Pimichev, Marat Galym, Kairat Zhusupov, talked about themselves, their professional choices, shared memories of their time in Afghanistan, and recalled the tragic days of the Afghan War and fellow countrymen who died in Afghanistan.

Students of the Military Department and Higher Pedagogical College, who attended the meeting, honored the memory of the fallen warriors with a minute of silence.

"Young people need to know and remember the events of those terrible years, the heroic people who courageously fulfilled their international duty," said Senior Lecturer of the Department, Colonel Reserve Urken Utebasov, addressing the youth.

The event was accompanied by musical performances, a video presentation, and a book exhibition.
