We are flipping through our anniversary photo album. Recall that this autumn, the Akhmet Baytursynuly KRU celebrates its 85th anniversary.
Today, Anar UTEMISOVA, Head of the Department of Mathematics and Physics at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Energy and Information Technologies at Baitursynuly University, shares her photo memories:
"My student years fell on a difficult time – the 90s. There was no money (only cards), it was cold in the academic buildings. But I still have the warmest memories.… We had a great group – funny, friendly guys. We kept the building clean ourselves – we washed the huge stained-glass windows, went out on clean-up days. It was more difficult to study, of course, than it is today. We did not have the Internet, textbooks and manuals freely available. Students did not leave the reading rooms, where they endlessly copied chapters from books. They didn't make copies because it was very expensive.
Of course, we chose a difficult specialty – mathematics. Fortunately, we had wonderful teachers - Natalia Borisovna Savushkina, Maya Mikhailovna Koreneva, Leonid Ignatievich Elfimov, Tatyana Andreevna Razina. The dean was Fyodor Fedorovich Mayer. Surprisingly, he gave lectures without any papers, he didn't peek anywhere.
I still communicate with many of my classmates. Many left, but there are also those who returned to their native village. Now they work there as teachers, school principals."
