Medals at the Asian Championship

From May 4 to 7, 2023, the ASIAN WEIGHTLIFTING CHAMPIONSHIP was held in the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic (Bishkek), with 505 athletes from 15 countries participating.  Students from the A. Baitursynov KRU (Physical Education and Sport specialty) Denis Dolgashov, Anton Stelmakh, and Manur Shayekonov competed as part of the national team of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Asian Championship is the second most prestigious competition in this sport after the World Championship.  It is worth noting that, starting this year, Russian athletes, in addition to Asian countries, have participated in the Asian Championship, significantly increasing the level of competition! Despite this, the Kostanay students managed to demonstrate a worthy sporting result and win medals in several weightlifting disciplines (snatch, long-cycle snatch, clean and jerk).  Denis Dolgashov in the 73 kg weight category took 1st place (snatch) and 2nd place (clean and jerk).  Anton Stelmakh in the 58 kg weight category won two second places: snatch and clean and jerk.  And in the 63 kg weight category, Manur Shayekonov took 2nd place (clean and jerk).

Congratulations to the athletes and we wish them a successful performance at the main event of the season - the World Championship, which will be held in September of this year.
