The A. Baitursynov Kostanay Regional University hosted a conversation of students majoring in "Journalism" and "Philology" with renowned writer, member of the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan, and journalist Sabyrbek Olzhabay.
Sabyrbek Olzhabay is a well-known writer and journalist from the Turkestan region. He started his career as a literary worker at the Sozak district newspaper "Za Izobilie" and rose to the position of Deputy Editor. He worked for the newspaper "Yuzhny Kazakhstan" and also as the Editor-in-Chief of the city newspaper "Shymkent Kelbeti." Sabyrbek Olzhabay has 44 years of experience in journalism. He is a laureate of the "Golden Pen" award and was named "Best Writer" in 2005.
His works have been published in books such as "Ashutas," "Musatir," "Emeuirin," "The Story of the Stolen Chicken," "Hired Bridesman," "The Sickness of the Apocalypse," "The Century's Misfortune" (satirical), "Jilibulaq," "The Diamond Sword of Tamerlane," "Akilgek" (prose), "The Night the Girl Cried," "The Axe-Wielding Phantom" (detective), and "Beauty Under the Moon."
Students who attended the meeting with the writer read poetry and staged the author's works. In the Q&A session, they asked questions about his life and work. The writer told the KRU students about his life journey, creativity, and homeland. At the end of the event, on behalf of Abay Balazhan, Editor-in-Chief of the Turkestan Regional Newspaper "Ontustik Kazakhstan," he presented Honorary Diplomas to students and university staff who participated in organizing the creative evening. He also presented a Letter of Appreciation from Beysen Tazhibaev, Deputy Akim of the Turkestan Region, to Seitbek Kuanyshbaev, Rector of the A. Baitursynov KRU. Nurlykhan Temirbekov, Vice-Rector for Social and Educational Work, received a Letter of Appreciation from Kuanysh Asylov, First Deputy Akim of Shymkent. Sabyrbek Olzhabay donated several of his works and an encyclopedia about the city of Shymkent to the university library fund.
In turn, Sabyrbek Olzhabay was presented with the Akhmet Baitursynov badge in memory of the meeting on Kostanay land.
