The regional scientific and practical conference "Economic advantages of nuclear power plants in the global energy system" was held at Baitursynuly University. Scientists from leading universities of Kostanay region took part in it.

- As you know, one of the key points announced in the Address of the Head of State on September 2 was the issue of the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan. It has been discussed for a long time. This is due to the fact that the country's demand for electricity is growing every year. We already have to buy some of our electricity from neighboring countries. The construction of a nuclear power plant will help solve the problem of shortage.
The issue was considered by scientists from Baitursynuly University and other universities from different positions. They talked about ensuring the safety of nuclear power plants, the experience of other countries, the prospects for the development of nuclear energy in Kazakhstan, its economic and environmental advantages.
Recall that on October 6, a referendum will be held in Kazakhstan, during which Kazakhstan is will be able to vote for or against the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan.
