INTERNSHIP IN BULGARIA SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED

Faculty members from the Department of Natural Sciences at A. Baitursynuly Kostanay Regional University – Gaukhar Baubekova, Sevara Daribaeva, and Chingis Tauakelov – completed a scientific internship at the University of Forestry in Sofia, Bulgaria. The internship was part of the "500 Scholars" international scholarship program "Bolashak." Since September of the current year, the Kostanay scientists worked on the topic "Chemico-physical research of environmental objects."

During the internship, the KRU lecturers, along with foreign partners and students from the University of Forestry, participated in the field stage of the practice. They collected field materials, such as soil samples of various soil types (gray forest, mountain-meadow, brown, etc.), water samples from open water bodies, and the Lome River. In laboratories, they determined the physical and chemical properties of the soil, including total nitrogen (nitrate- and ammonium-ions), potassium (K2O) in the soil, and phosphorus (P2O5). Additionally, they used atomic adsorption spectrometry to determine the content of total nitrogen in water (nitrate- and ammonium-ions) and pollutants in the air (NO2, SO2, H2S, etc.).

The interns mastered research methods applicable in laboratories at the University of Forestry. The research results were processed and utilized in scientific articles, accepted for publication in international peer-reviewed journals.
