The U. Sultangazin Pedagogical Institute hosted the I Regional Scientific and Practical Conference of Geography Teachers. The event was organized by the Department of Natural Sciences, the U. Sultangazin Pedagogical Institute, the Kostanay Regional Education Department, and the Geography Teachers' Association.
The main objective of the conference was to create a unified discussion space for exchanging ideas and creative initiatives, fostering a motivational environment for professional development, developing a corporate culture, and enhancing the prestige of the teaching profession.
The conference brought together over 40 general education institutions from the region. The plenary session featured presentations by leading teachers from the Kostanay region and the city of Kostanay: Nurimzhan Milakat (Auliekol District), Zhanara Erdenova (Secondary School No. 5 named after Bauzhan Momysh-uly), Karlygash Asanova (Physics and Mathematics Lyceum of the National Research University, Kostanay), and Head of the Department Gaukhar Baubekova. The presentations outlined the results of research and methodological activities. The speakers shared their pedagogical experience in studying regional geography, organizing ethnotours in the region, developing algorithms and using test matrices for final student assessment, and organizing and conducting integrated lessons to develop meta-subject competencies.
The conference was divided into four sections:
- Transformation of methodology: effective methods and approaches in building a modern geography lesson, best practice case studies;
- STEP BY STEP: Opportunities and challenges of extracurricular activities in geographic education;
- Vertical development of giftedness;
- Integration of geographic science and education.
In their presentations at the sectional meetings, teachers showcased their experience and effective practices in their professional activities.
Participants of the conference noted that the modern education system is undergoing transformations that need to be discussed in dialogue platforms within the pedagogical community, and the regional geography teachers’ conference provided such an opportunity.
