"Archaeology brings us closer!"

Baitursynuly University scientists Andrey LOGVIN and Irina SHEVNINA made a presentation at the VI International Northern Archaeological Congress.

The largest Russian forum, which was held in Surgut, brought together more than 200 archaeologists and ethnographers from 8 countries. The teachers of the KRU were the only ones from Kazakhstan.

- We made a keynote speech on the Neolithic of Turgai, - said Irina SHEVNINA, senior researcher at the archaeological laboratory of Baitursynuly University. – It would seem that geographically we are far away, but northern archaeologists are very interested in our research. They see the connection between north and south. Archaeology brings us closer!

Among the participants were famous scientists from leading archaeological universities in Russia and abroad. Andrey Logvin and Irina Shevnina participated in various sections and round tables, as well as went on excursions.

- The archaeological park "Barsovaya Gora" was recently built on the outskirts of Surgut, - says Irina Viktorovna. – There are a huge number of archaeological sites there, both natural and ethnographic. A wonderful tourist site, the idea of which could well be implemented in our region.
