Results of the annual "Best Scientist" award for 2023 have been announced. Fifty Kazakh scientists from research institutes, universities, and scientific departments of organizations, who made significant contributions to the development of domestic science, emerged as winners. Each awardee will receive a certificate and a prize of 2000 MRP.

Among the winners is Almasbek Absadyk, head of the Department of Philology and Practical Linguistics, and Doctor of Philological Sciences, who, for the first time in the university's history, has been honored with this award in the category of "Humanities."

Established in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Science, the award aims to support and encourage scientists contributing significantly to science and technology. A total of 307 applications were submitted across seven categories: "Natural Sciences," "Engineering and Technology," "Medicine and Healthcare," "Social Sciences," "Humanities and Arts," "Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences," and "Military Sciences and National Security."

Primary evaluation criteria for scientific achievements include academic degrees and titles, publications in prestigious international and Kazakh peer-reviewed journals within the chosen scientific field, including collaboration with leading foreign scientists, particularly in Scopus-indexed journals. The preparation of personnel holding a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree or equivalent is also considered.

In addition, Almasbek Akhmetuly is a member of the National Scientific Council (NSC) and a member of the commission awarding the state prize named after Akhmet Baitursynuly. Over the past two years, Almasbek Absadyk has published three monographs, two of which are dedicated to the research of Akhmet Baitursynuly.

We congratulate Almasbek Akhmetuly on receiving the award and are confident that scientists from A. Baitursynuly Kostanay Regional University will continue to be among the best scientific workers in Kazakhstan.
