Today, the Department of Social and Humanities held a roundtable discussion titled "T.K. Zhurgenov and the Alash Leaders," which was attended by students and master's students of the "History" program, and school students from schools №№8 and 5 in the city of Kostanay were invited as guests.
Temirbek Zhurgenov participated in the national-territorial delimitation of Kazakhstan and Central Asia in 1924-1925. He was among those who defended the Zhetysu and Syr Darya regions as part of Kazakhstan. He mastered six languages, including Uzbek and Tajik. In Kazakhstan, he held the position of People's Commissar of Education.
The roundtable discussion was opened by welcoming remarks from Zhenis Zharlygasov, Vice-Rector for Research, Innovation, and Digitalization, and Aydar Aitmukhambetov, Professor at the Department of Social and Humanities. The speakers wished the presenters further exploration in their research on the activities of the Alash party.
In their presentations, Idris Ilyasov and Dilnaz Ismailova, 3rd and 1st year students of the "History" program, discussed Temirbek Karayevich Zhurgenov's contribution to the development of the education and culture system in Kazakhstan in the 1920s-1930s. Elmurat Topalov, an 11th-grade student from school №8, focused on A. Bukeykhanov's activities during the Soviet period. In his presentation, Bagdaulet Karagul, a first-year master's student in the "History" program, presented information about the activities of Alash party members, particularly representatives from our region.
The roundtable discussion took place in an atmosphere of scientific-cognitive discussion, enhanced by the lively interest in the speakers' presentations.
