In celebration of World Laboratory Animal Day, lecturers from the Department of Veterinary Medicine, Zulkya Abilova and Aigul Zhabikpaeva, delivered a joint lecture for second- and third-year students of the "Ecology-6B05201" educational program at the Department of Biology, Ecology, and Chemistry. The lecture focused on humane treatment of laboratory animals.
The students were given a historical overview of the use of laboratory animals in experimental research, with an emphasis on modern concepts of humanizing experimental work.
This includes progressively replacing potentially harmful animal experiments with computer modeling using neural networks and AI.
The goal of the lecture was to draw students' attention to the ethical aspects of human activity in medicine and biology, particularly bioethics.
