A seminar with Jeff Majonkalde, CEO of Coursera, was held in Astana, with the participation of rectors, vice-rectors, and students from 25 universities. The meeting discussed the initial results of the pilot project aimed at enhancing the academic potential of universities in the regions.
The Coursera educational platform collaborates with leading universities worldwide, offering high-quality and free online courses in engineering, the humanities, medicine, biology, social sciences, mathematics, business, computer science, and other fields.
The A. Baitursynov KRU was represented at the meeting by Yerbol Isakaev, Vice-Rector for Academic Work, and Nikita Sayler, a 2nd-year student of the "Economics" educational program. Jeff Majonkalde presented awards to the most active students for their outstanding achievements. Among them was Nikita Sayler, who has completed four online courses at the University of Illinois (USA) and has already registered for the second round of courses.
All 500 licenses allocated to the A. Baitursynov KRU have been utilized. Students have completed 94 courses in three languages - Kazakh, Russian, and English. Courses such as "Time Management for Personal and Professional Productivity," "Workplace Communication in the 21st Century," and "High-Efficiency Business Writing" were particularly in demand. At the same time, a student can take several courses simultaneously and receive a certificate from a top university.
Registration is currently underway for the second summer round of Coursera courses. In addition to undergraduate students, master's and doctoral students can also participate.
