Practice-oriented sessions are becoming an important and integral part of the learning process regardless of where the graduate will work, as their main goal is to prepare the future specialist fully for professional activities.
For several years now, BAITUTSYNULY UNIVERSITY has been carrying out a planned and phased restructuring of the educational process in favor of practical forms of conducting classes and independent work of students.
Thus, the third-year students of the educational program "Restaurant Business and Hotel Business" have started their first practice-oriented sessions, which take place at large restaurant-hotel complexes in the regional center.
Once a week throughout the semester, students acquire practical skills of the profession: they actively collaborate with administrative staff, in particular, they have already learned to work in the Booking system, which allows booking, editing, and canceling rooms. In addition, they fill out various documents for organizations, learn table setting and proper serving of dishes.
The next topics of the sessions will cover sanitary requirements for hospitality industry facilities and staff, food safety, food service, and its role in a hotel enterprise.
"The classes are very informative. Of course, theory is not neglected, but it's much more interesting to study all this in practice, to learn what is usually left out of textbooks," says Amina Zhankulina, a third-year student who, by the way, is studying on a government grant.
It is worth noting that this new innovative program was introduced at the university in 2021 and it has garnered interest not only from employers who participate in developing educational programs and providing practice bases but also from applicants: the number of applicants for this program is increasing every year. And it can be confidently stated that the first cohort of students, which will graduate next year, will be employed, as hotel complexes and restaurants hire personnel during their training.
