Deputies of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerkin ABIL and Ekaterina SMYSHLYAEVA met with the management and teachers of Baitursynuly University.
The topic of conversation was the upcoming referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant, which will be held in Kazakhstan on October 6.
The meeting was held in a question-and-answer format. They discussed the impact of nuclear power plants on the environment, the availability of engineering and scientific resources for the development of nuclear energy, the impact of the construction of a nuclear power plant on tariff policy and much more.
As the speakers explained, the construction of a nuclear power plant is a necessary step to ensure the energy security of Kazakhstan. The electricity deficit will grow by an average of 3% annually.
A nuclear power plant will be the solution to this problem. The NPP has been able to provide stable energy supply for more than 60 years. At the same time, greenhouse gas emissions do not occur during the operation of nuclear power plants.
