A presentation of the Engineering Academy took place at A. Baitursynuly KRU for students in grades 7-11 from the city of Kostanay and their parents.
The Engineering Academy aims to foster creative thinking, engineering problem-solving skills, and stimulate students' interest in engineering sciences. One of the main goals of the engineering school is to attract talented youth, primarily school students, for professional orientation and the choice of engineering specialties and educational institutions.
The engineering school will operate as an elective for all interested students for free at A. Baitursynuly KRU. They will have access to university laboratories for classes, various competitions, and Olympiads, as well as university lecturers. The organizers plan to move away from boring lectures and lessons, structuring activities so that only those genuinely dedicated to engineering enter the Academy. Excursions to the region's largest machine-building plants will be organized for them. It is worth noting that the Academy was established thanks to the scientific-educational Consortium for Mechanical Engineering, which includes major machine-building enterprises in the region: TOO "SaryakAvtoprom," TOO "KAMLIT KZ," TOO "AgromashHolding," the Institute of Mechanics and Machine Building named after academician U.A. Dzholdasbekov, and the Kostanay College of Automotive Transport.
In his speeches, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has repeatedly emphasized the need to change the perspective on education and prioritize technical professions. "We must become a nation of engineers, designers, agronomists, and programmers," he said, instructing to open more technical universities and focus on engineering specialties. Considering Kazakhstan's intensive industrial development, there has been an increase in the number of grants allocated to technical specialties in recent years: this year alone, 60% of all grants are allocated specifically to engineering and technical specialties.
A. Baitursynuly KRU offers training in 140 educational programs for bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees, including 15 programs in technical specialties.
