Students from Kostanay Regional University participated in the semifinals of the world's largest team-based student programming championship, competing for the title of the best in sports programming. ICPC (International Collegiate Programming Contest) is the world's largest and most prestigious programming championship, attracting tens of thousands of students worldwide for over 40 years.
Teams of three students are tasked with solving 12 problems of varying difficulty within 5 hours. The Northern Eurasia Finals (ICPC NEF) took place simultaneously in St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Astana, and Kutaisi, where 324 teams competed for the title of the strongest. Astana IT University hosted the ceremonial opening of the competition, with over 80 teams of three from four Central Asian countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.
Two teams from Kostanay Regional University, consisting of students from the "Information Technology and Robotics" program Dmitry Kan, Egor Ananin, Aslan Kobzhanov, and the "Information Systems" program Andrei Malygin, Vladislav Popkov, and Dmitry Paksyutov, participated. This was their first experience in such a competition, sparking a greater interest in intensified programming study and solving Olympiad tasks.
Advancement to the semifinals provides participants with the opportunity to compete with the world's strongest programmers, and the best teams from this stage will earn a spot in the World Finals, continuing the fight for titles and recognition in the global IT community. The ICPC Northern Eurasia Finals semifinal is not just a competition for the title of the best but also a support for technological education, stimulation of interest in programming, and inspiration for students to reach new heights in the IT field.
