On December 26, 2023, under the chairmanship of State Counselor Erlan Karin, the final meeting of the state commission for the complete rehabilitation of victims of political repression took place. Initiated by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's decree on November 24, 2020, the commission's primary task is the legal and political rehabilitation of victims of political repression.
In total, 425 scientists, researchers, and experts are united under the commission, with over 260 actively involved in regional commissions. Extensive research, spanning over 60 state and departmental archives in all regions of the country, resulted in the rehabilitation of over 311,000 victims of political repression within the existing legislation.
As part of this effort, A. Baitursynuly Kostanay Regional University's scientists, who became part of the regional commission, contributed to the preparation of volumes 18 and 40 of the publication. Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Alibek Tabuldenov, was honored with the President's Gratitude for a significant contribution to historical science and systematic research within the activities of the state commission for the full rehabilitation of victims of political repression.
