In the Kostanay region, at the initiative of the Center for Inclusive Education and the Department of Psychology, from October 16 to October 25, 2023, the IV Awareness Decade started. Its goal is to form an inclusive culture and a non-discriminatory tolerant attitude of society towards people with disabilities. This goal fully reflects the priorities of the social policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
On October 16, a briefing "From Awareness Decade to Inclusive Society" took place with the participation of Mekebaeva A.E., Deputy Head of the Employment Coordination and Social Programs Department, Shatrovskaya V.V., Chief Specialist of the Education Department of the Akimat of the Kostanay Region, and Sarkisyan L.V., Chairperson of the organizing committee of the IV Awareness Decade, professor of the psychology department of KRU named after A. Baitursynuly.
The mission of the regional university is actively contributing to the implementation of the socio-economic development plan of our region, including the aspect of inclusive development, the main goal of which is the independent life of people with disabilities through their socialization and full integration into society.
During the IV Awareness Decade, information and explanatory events will be held at the university, in all educational organizations of all levels, as well as in libraries, cultural centers, and other organizations. These events will involve experts and representatives of NGOs focused on shaping an inclusive culture.
