The Republican festival of student documentary film KozQaras has completed its work.
Such a festival has been held for the third year by the Department of Journalism and Communication Management, but for the first time most of it is held offline. For example, watching documentaries of festival participants, master classes, lectures and live meetings with famous masters of cinema and television.
Nine works were submitted to the competition in the nominations: "Directing" and "Journalism" of students from KazNAA. Vol Zhurgenov, Almaty Management of the University and KRU named after A. Baitursynuly, who shot author's documentaries during the academic year.
The composition of the jury that evaluated the works speaks for itself. Director of documentary cinema, Associate Professor of the Department of Directing of Screen Arts of the Faculty of Cinema and TV of KazNAA named after T. Zhurgenova Asiya Baigozhina, documentary director Evgeny Lumpov, producer, famous documentary filmmaker, editor of the online TV channel Tengri News Irina Gribovskaya, who, by the way, is a graduate of this university and other eminent Kazakhstani documentary filmmakers, journalists, directors and teachers.
The festival program was quite rich. A special guest of the festival is a film critic, Associate Professor of the Department of History and Theory of Cinema of KazNAA named after Vol Zhurgenova Nadezhda Berkova held a master class for students. By the way, the festival attracted the attention of not only students. For three days, all master classes were attended by students of school №19, who plan to associate their future fate with the profession of journalist. Students of the Fedorovskaya school also came to listen to the lectures and master classes of famous journalists. Abay
"It's a great luck for students to hear the assessment of creative work and listen to practical recommendations from famous documentary filmmakers," said Ainur Suleimenova, Master of Social Sciences, who three years ago, as part of her doctoral thesis, held the first festival, which has now become traditional.
As a result, in the "Directing" nomination, the main statuette of the festival was won by Alimkhan Maulen, and the Audience Award in this nomination went to Almaty Ydyrys. Both are students of the Kazakh National Academy of Arts named after T. Zhurgenova.
In the nomination "Journalism" the best was a student of the 3rd year of OP "Journalism" of the KRU named after A. Bytursynuly Yana Garkusha. She took both the statuette and the Audience Award.
It is worth noting that the Department of Journalism and Communication Management is constantly looking for new forms and methods of the educational process, attracting applicants and involving students in professional activities. Over the past three years, the department has been in the TOP-5 according to the results of the Atameken rating, and in 2023 they became the second out of 22 OP Journalism that participated in this rating, ahead of national universities.
